Peter Anton is a contemporary American artist celebrated for his hyperrealistic sculptures of food, sweets, pastries, vegetables, and meat. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Anton's artistic process begins with eating and studying his subjects to capture their essence. He then meticulously sculpts, sands, and paints his pieces, transforming everyday foods into stunning works of art.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Anton has exhibited his work in more than 100 shows worldwide. His notable solo exhibitions include those at the Allan Stone Gallery, Hammer Galleries, and Unix Gallery in New York City, among others. In 2012, he made waves with his Art Basel Miami installation, SUGAR & GOMORRAH, an interactive roller coaster ride through a fantastical world of giant food sculptures and city ruins.

 

Anton’s sculptures are featured in prestigious collections such as the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. He continues to live and work in New Haven, creating art that bridges reality and fantasy.
