Hunt Slonem: The Practice Behind the Collector Obsession

Few painters in contemporary American art have built a practice as formally singular as Hunt Slonem's. His neo-expressionist canvases return to a fixed iconography: bunnies, tropical birds, butterflies, the natural world rendered through gestural repetition until each motif becomes something closer to meditation than imagery. Slonem paints with speed and conviction. His surfaces are built in layers, physically present and texturally dense, carrying the energy of a painter who has never doubted the premise of his practice.

Born in Kittery, Maine, and trained at Tulane University, he has spent decades building a body of work held in the permanent collections of more than 250 museums worldwide, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. The collector market for Slonem is consistent and competitive. His works move quickly at every price point. The pieces on view at Lenox Square represent a genuine opportunity to acquire paintings that rarely remain available for long. The gallery's advisors are available for private viewings and collector consultations.

    Where Photography Becomes Sculpture

Nemo Jantzen was born in The Hague in 1970 and spent years in graphic design and commercial art before committing fully to fine art in the early 2000s. He works between Barcelona and New York. What he makes is genuinely difficult to categorize. Each dome work begins as a photographic image, meticulously manipulated and mounted beneath a convex surface. The curve distorts the image in ways that are precise and intentional: as light moves across the dome, depth and reflection shift with the viewer's position. The image appears to move. It is three-dimensional in a way no flat photographic surface can produce. Jantzen calls this a conversation between photography, painting, and sculpture. The work earns the description.

The dome works now on view at Lenox Square are among the most visually arresting pieces in the current curation. Collectors who acquire Jantzen's work at this stage of his international trajectory are well-positioned. His body of work is gaining consistent institutional attention across Europe and North America.

The Weight of Play: Adam Umbach's First Solo Exhibition in Atlanta

The Weight of Play: Adam Umbach's First Solo Exhibition in Atlanta

Adam Umbach was born in Chicago in 1986. He grew up spending hours in the modern masters galleries at the Art Institute of Chicago, trained in painting at the University of Wisconsin, and built his practice around the coastal landscapes of East Hampton and Islesboro, Maine. He lives and works in Brooklyn.

The Weight of Play is his first solo exhibition in Atlanta, and it is the most formally compelling work currently in the gallery. The premise is structural: Umbach renders familiar objects from childhood iconography, rubber ducks, sailboats, flamingo lawn ornaments, sun balloons, with photorealistic precision using his dominant hand, then introduces gestural, freely-made marks with the other. Two visual languages share the canvas without resolving into each other. The precisely remembered thing sits surrounded by the marks of someone who has learned to stop trying to hold everything exactly.

His work has been featured in Elle Decor and Hamptons Magazine. His collectors span New York, the Hamptons, Nantucket, and Seoul. For Atlanta collectors, this is a significant introduction to a practice already embedded in serious private collections internationally.
