The New Year has begun at Carousel Fine Art Chicago!

On display are works by artists such as Caroline Dechamby, Zhuang, and Chance Cooper. Alongside these classical contemporary works are JISBAR’s pop-infused art and Onemizer’s graffiti-inspired works, blending traditional and contemporary styles in a way that reflects the gallery’s unique artistic vision.

Artist Spotlight: Onemizer

French street artist Cyril Valade, known as Onemizer, blends graffiti culture with influences from literature, design, and his personal experiences to create canvases that bring the raw energy of the streets into the refined space of collectors' homes. Initially, Onemizer painted in more obscure spaces such as vacant lots, railroad yards, and abandoned warehouses, carving out his unique style. Rather than following a formal art education, he chose the path of self-teaching, refining his craft by immersing himself in the world of both canvas and street painting. Over time, Onemizer's work began to find its place in more formal settings, including hotels, restaurants, and bars, where his vibrant interpretations of street culture were displayed.

Since his beginnings in the streets, Onemizer's work has garnered international attention, with exhibitions in galleries across Paris, Courchevel, Megève, Cannes, Singapore, London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Miami, and Tokyo. In 2019, he was named one of the 50 most talented artists by *Guide de l’Art Contemporain Urbain* (Graffiti Art Magazine), solidifying his place as a leading figure in contemporary urban art.

Santos’s “En La Nieve - In The Snow" perfectly embodies the artist’s distinctive abstract style. The monumental canvas is both a meticulous and instinctive interplay of texture, color, and form. Layers of paint in hues of blue, white, black, and pink serve as the foundation, upon which Santos applies thick blends of color. These deliberate interruptions are created with an unconventional, ready-made tool: a mop. The physical act of bringing the mop down on the canvas results in an intensely visceral and textured painting.

Santos, also known as Jorge Luis Santos, is a Cuban artist celebrated for his innovative approach to materials. He incorporates unconventional tools like mops, brooms and even the soles of shoes, infusing his work with a raw intensity that retains a sense of intentionality and depth.

Now based in Miami, Santos’s work is featured in prominent collections, including the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Museum of Cuban Art Vienna.
