Nashville Artworks on Display: Explore the Current Space

David Yarrow is widely known for large black and white photographs of wildlife, remote cultures and the American West. The Regulars was made at the Pioneer Bar in Virginia City, Montana. Ten years ago Yarrow brought a wolf into that bar. This year another one came along, a big black one. Rozy, a friend who has spent a good share of his life at the Pioneer, went back behind the counter for the shoot, and the light comes from the bar’s own windows. It is edition 4 of 12. Sinclair Oil started with a vintage Sinclair Oil advertisement of a rider racing an aircraft. Yarrow rebuilt it at Alpine Airport in West Texas, with cowboys on horseback and a 1944 A-26 Invader flying about fifty feet off the ground. That plane flew in the Battle of the Bulge. This one is an artist proof.

The Road Goes On Forever is edition 12 of 12. Yarrow took the title from Robert Earl Keen, a Texas songwriter his crew sings along to on the road. They had about five minutes of good light at Monument Valley. It felt right to hang it in Nashville. Vice, edition 5 of 12, was made at the Trona Pinnacles in California, with a nod to Thelma and Louise.
