    INSIDE THE STAGING CURATION

Completed in May 2026, this Sunset Island residence gave Carousel Fine Art a rare canvas: 5,768 square feet of new construction, built for privacy and framed by mature tropical landscaping. Rather than compete with the architecture, we staged the home around the fused-glass portraits of Belgian artist Isabelle Scheltjens, work that reads as color from a distance and resolves into a human face up close.

The home's scale called for pieces that could hold a room without crowding it. In the main living areas, a single large-format portrait anchors the sightline toward the pool. Near the windows, the glass catches the same tropical light the architecture was designed around, so the art and the setting read as one idea instead of two.

This is what a curated staging looks like when the art is chosen for the house, not pulled from a warehouse.

  • HOW WE SIMPLIFY LUXURY HOME STAGING

Staging a home at this level is about more than filling rooms. It is about giving a buyer a reason to remember the property after the showing ends. At Carousel Fine Art, we handle the full art program for a listing, so brokers and developers get gallery-quality results without managing the details themselves.

Fine art sets the tone of a home. It signals that the property was considered, not just prepared, and gives a buyer permission to imagine their own life inside it. With a roster spanning global artists and styles, and a footprint across Florida, Georgia, and Illinois, we curate art programs sized to a single flagship residence or an entire development.

  • THE PROPERTY AT 2520 SHELTER AVE

Tucked away on one of Sunset Island's most private streets, this newly completed residence pairs architectural restraint with resort-scale amenities.

    • 5,768 SF of interior living space, plus a 500 SF garage
    • 6 bedrooms plus a separate employee room, and 6 full bathrooms
    • A private elevator connecting every level
    • A 40' x 10' resort-style pool set into lush, mature landscaping
    • 0.28-acre lot with 4-car garage parking
    • Completed May 2026

Every detail, from the millwork to the appliances, was chosen to feel timeless rather than trend-driven. The setting does the rest: a quiet, tree-lined street where the loudest sound is birdsong, minutes from Miami Beach's dining, golf, and waterfront lifestyle.

Who is Isabelle Scheltjens? Who is Isabelle Scheltjens? Who is Isabelle Scheltjens?

    Who is Isabelle Scheltjens?

Isabelle Scheltjens is a Belgian glass artist, born in 1981, who refined her fused-glass technique after creating a portrait of her own daughter. She has since become known for a kind of contemporary neo-pointillism worked in fire and color rather than paint.

Each portrait begins as thousands of hand-cut glass fragments, some just three millimeters across, layered by hand and fused at roughly 800 degrees Celsius until they become a single luminous surface. A finished piece can hold close to twenty thousand individual pieces. From across a room, the work reads as a precise portrait. Step closer, and it dissolves into abstract mosaic, a quality that keeps a viewer moving through the space rather than glancing past it.

Scheltjens' glass responds to natural light the way few mediums do, catching color differently at midday than at dusk. On a property built around tropical light and open sightlines, that quality is not incidental. It is the reason the collection was chosen.

  • ABOUT SUNSET ISLAND

Sunset Island sits between Biscayne Bay and Sunset Harbour, one of Miami Beach's defining waterfront neighborhoods. Palm-lined streets and deep-water canals set the pace along the Sunset Islands Causeway at Purdy Avenue, where joggers, cyclists, and dog-walkers pass low-slung modern homes alongside Mediterranean Revival facades from the 1930s.

Docks and seawalls shape daily life here as much as the streets do. Sunset Harbour's restaurants and design studios sit just across the bridges, giving the island a polished, urban counterpoint to its quiet residential core. The Standard Spa, Books & Books, and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden anchor the neighborhood beyond it.
