    Who is Mr. Brainwash?

    Who is Mr. Brainwash?

    Mr. Brainwash is often called the father of modern street art for transforming street culture into a global art movement. Born in 1966 in France and based in Los Angeles, he began as a videographer documenting the underground graffiti scene, capturing artists like Invader and Banksy.

     

    In 2008, Mr. Brainwash made his artistic debut with Life Is Beautiful, a groundbreaking exhibition that drew over 50,000 visitors and reimagined pop culture icons through monumental installations. His work merges pop art, street art, and cinematic spectacle—blending humor, irony, and optimism in a celebration of modern life.

     

    His meteoric rise was chronicled in the Academy Award–nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010), co-directed with Banksy, which introduced him to a global audience. Since then, Mr. Brainwash has collaborated with icons like Madonna and Michael Jackson, exhibited at major art fairs including Art Basel and Coachella, and opened the Life Is Beautiful Museum in Beverly Hills in 2022. His works are collected by figures such as David Beckham, Kanye West, and the Kardashians.
