Enter CFA’s Art Miami 2024 Curation

Ahead of Art Miami 2024, we invite guests to preview a curated selection from our fair booth.

Reflecting the show’s dedication to fine contemporary art, Carousel Fine Art’s booth explores the evolution of fine art through the works of three remarkable artists: Jorge Luis Santos, Eric Alfaro, and Randall Harrington. Together, our booth blends the fundamental modern and contemporary art styles: Abstract, Realism, Modern Impressionism, and Post-War painting and sculpture.

For 2024, CFA's booth provides an exploration of what is currently pushing contemporary art forward. By refining historical art styles, these artists push tradition into new directions, reshaping the language of contemporary art.

  • Randall Harrington

  • Who is Randall Harrington?

    Who is Randall Harrington?

Some know Randall Harrington as the secret weapon behind the art world's biggest names in installations and performance pieces. Others are utterly charmed by his own thought-provoking sculpts of twisted missiles, toast-a-saurus herds, and robots doing human things. He calls himself simply "a sculptor who likes to paint."

In the early years of honing his craft, Harrington worked in film set design and music video production from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Experiments with painting, sculpting, construction and performance all while juggling painting faux finishes and trompe l'oeil on Hollywood homes to odd jobs creating and coordinating high-budget movie props all aided his evolution into the well-regarded fine artist he is today.

Harrington first found his niche in metal and mixed media when he moved to an industrial area of LA in the mid-90s and had the good fortune of landing next to a foundry producing work for the likes of Frank Gehry, Sam Messer and Chuck Arnoldi. "I went over there and saw the bronze process of lost wax and all that, and it just clicked," he says. "The look of it, the permanence, everything. I knew that that's where I wanted to go from that moment on.”

  • Artwork Spotlight

    Randall Harrington's 'The Bomb'

    Randall Harrington's "The Bomb"

Randall Harrington's artwork "The Bomb" stands parallel to Neil Postman's cultural critique of technology as not fundamentally a friend of humanity, foreshadowing doom in the age of endless entertainment.

Harrington is a sculptor and painter known for his high-concept fabrications of recomposed weaponry, "Toastasaurus" herds, and eerily human robots. After years of assisting big-name installaton and performance artists and working in film-set design, he found his niche in metal and mixed media when he moved to an industrial area of Los Angeles in the mid-1990s.

  • Eric Alfaro

  • Who is Eric Alfaro?

    Who is Eric Alfaro?

Eric Alfaro is a Cuban artist based in the United States who is primarily known for his prolific portraiture. Eric Alfaro dives into human sensibilities through tender, intentional motions that ultimately reveal realistic paintings. His technical mastery and keen-sightedness capture true gesture; a personal seal that despite being figurative, does not lack space and sense.

Alfaro is quickly gaining reputation as the Modern-Day Monet; transforming oil paint with his spatula into unforgettable imagery. Not only does the sensational impasto texture lure curiosity, but his marriage of color and contrast creates a profound perception of dimension.

  • “To create my work I usually use photographic references, I always change elements to the photography, inserting other images and colors until I achieve a sketch that is useful for me to start working on a painting. I have series of paintings that are with acrylics and others with oil, I use brushes and I really like wide brushes also to make painting effects, I use spatulas to make textures,” —Eric Alfaro.
  • Jorge Luis Santos

  • Who is Santos?

    Who is Santos?

Jorge Luis Santos is a Cuban artist whose work embodies the bold exploration of abstract art, pushing the boundaries of traditional mediums and techniques. Known for his visceral and monumental creations, Santos is a master of innovation, utilizing materials as diverse as acrylic, oil, mixed media, found objects, iron, and wood to bring his artistic vision to life.

For Santos, every canvas becomes a playground of possibilities, where he can explore themes of individuality, emotion, and the abstract nature of existence.

Despite the often unconventional tools he employs—whether it be a brush taped to a long pole, the sole of his shoe, or even a mop—Santos's work retains a profound sense of intentionality and depth. The duality of his creations, where raw intensity meets meticulous craftsmanship, amplifies the uniqueness of his art. His work stands as a testament to his ability to innovate while remaining connected to the emotional and psychological undercurrents that define his practice.
