Mateo Joins the Carousel Family
We are thrilled to welcome French artist Mateo (born Mathieu Bories) to Carousel Fine Art, making his debut at our Buckhead Village gallery this November. At the crossroads of street art and ancient culture, Mateo transforms forgotten images and ornamental traditions into baroque visions that challenge how we see identity, heritage, and our modern world.
Best known for his intricately detailed painted rugs, Mateo creates portraits of women with ancestral patterns, merging contemporary urban aesthetics with ancient methods. After training in Toulouse and traveling extensively through South America, Mateo has developed a practice that spans murals, fabrics, ceramics, and canvases, creating a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary urban expression.
Step into the gallery to experience Mateo’s unique vision: a fusion of ornamentation, nostalgia, and urban aesthetics that redefines portraiture.
