    Chance Cooper unveils his latest body of work at Carousel Fine Art Chicago during the art exhibition "Action!"

     

    A continuation of his crowd study, Chance Cooper has taken the exploration of interconnectedness to new depths. This invigorating collection, sprawling from the artist’s “Song” series, explores and celebrates the various fields of passion that unite a collective of people.

    A New Narrative

    Exploring different scenes of togetherness, Chance Cooper's "Crowd" concept forges connections between the individual and the collective. Through a unique artistic style in which Cooper minimizes figural forms to simple black outlines, Chance Cooper singles out a main cast by coloring them in a vibrant color palate.

     

    Each thematic painting yields relatability that viewers may attach themselves to. From sporting events to carnivals, fashion shows to movie sets, first days at the office to heated chaos of a restaurant kitchen— there is a commentary waiting to unfold.

    What brings people together more than a sporting event?

     

    For Chance Cooper, American Sports is the perfect moment to represent a collective. The national love for Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey ensure the bleachers are always filled with adoring fans, mascots, and more importantly, the individual within the collective. 

    Focusing on a specific cast of characters, Cooper outlines the crowd of people in black and white. By filling in specific figures with color Cooper brings them to life as the main cast of the canvas. With clues discerned in the behaviors of the figures and the objects spotted throughout the canvas, Cooper begs the viewer to develop their own narrative of American Sports and the energy of the individual within a collective.
