who is Artist roman feral?
Roman Feral is a contemporary artist whose fascination with Haute Couture and luxury brands has inspired his sculptural union of nature and man-made luxury.
Born in Paris, France, even a young age Roman Feral was surrounded by luxury fashion, which would later influence his artistry. As a teenager, Roman relocated to the United States but soon returned to France to refine his artistic style at the college ‘Atelier de Sèvres’.
In an attempt to physically manifest the preciousness of luxury design, Roman Feral sculpts together luxury fashion and natural elements. Using designer bags such as Louis Vuitton trunks, Chanel clutches, and Hermès handbags, Feral's signature technique involves suspending real persevered butterflies in mid-flight from the chosen designer material. The French artist’s creations not only celebrate the elegance of luxury brands but also offer a dialogue on the transience of beauty and the permanence of art.
Artist Roman Feral first gained widespread recognition with his debut collection at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2018. The success of this exhibition as well as his unique artistic style caught the attention of luxury brands, including Chanel, which acquired his “Coffre Chanel Azur” sculpture for its private collection.
In 2020, Feral achieved a groundbreaking milestone by encasing a swarm of butterflies in bronze—a process that involved 90 hours of meticulous hand-polishing. This work exemplifies his dedication to perfection and his ability to capture the intricate beauty of butterfly wings with unparalleled precision.
