Born in 1992 in California, Jacques Guetta's, also known as Hijack's, roots in street art run deep; he is the son of the famous street and pop artist Mr. Brainwash. Growing up, artist Hijack was surrounded by renowned street artists like Space Invader, Bansky, and Shepard Fairey. As Hijack evolved as an artist, he found his own voice, inspired by icons of art history and contemporary culture.

 

Working with both the urban terrain and canvas, Hijack's visual language depends on mixed mediums, oil paint and spay paint. Through these mediums, Hijack creates artworks imbued with humor and irony, aiming to critique contemporary society.  Blending together art history with graffiti, street art, and contemporary art in a unique style, it is no wonder why Hijack has found much success in the art world. 

 

In 2013, Hijack first entered the UK art scene with his gallery debut at Mead Carney Fine Art Gallery in London. The sold out show  garnered international attention and was featured in publications such as Art of England, Huffington Post UK, The Art Newspaper, and the Telegraph.

 

Hijack's artistic success launched him into the spotlight as a contemporary art phenomenon. Artist Hijack has exhibited worldwide and collaborated with famous street artists like NY's Cope and Japan's Dragon 76. 

 

Currently based in Los Angeles, Hijack continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art with his signature colorful style that appropriates the famous iconography of art icons such as Banksy, Andy Warhol, Piet Mondrian, and Monet. The contemporary artist takes various genres of art including modern art, impressionism, classic art, and pop art and adds a contemporary twist as well as his own silhouette making these famous canvases his own.
