Who is Beau Simmons?

Beau Simmons is an American fine art photographer celebrated for his evocative Western photography and dedication to preserving the spirit of Americana.

Beginning his professional career in 2009, Simmons first gained recognition as a fashion photographer, collaborating with brands such as Marc Jacobs, Guess Jeans, Converse, and 7 For All Mankind, and working with modeling agencies including Elite Models, IMG, and Ford Models. By his early twenties, he had established himself as a sought-after photographer in the fashion world.

Despite Beau's success in fashion, Simmons felt a deeper calling to document the traditions and landscapes of the American West. Growing up near Joshua Tree National Park, he developed a lifelong connection to the landscapes, ranches, and cowboy culture that now define his artistic vision. Today, he focuses on medium and large-format film photography, capturing the lives of cowboys, ranch life, and the American landscape with a style that evokes nostalgia and preserves moments from a rapidly changing world. His work draws inspiration from photographic masters such as Richard Avedon, Slim Aarons, William Eggleston, and Stephen Shore, blending documentary storytelling with fine art precision.

Beau Simmons prints capture the authenticity and nostalgia of a lifestyle often overlooked. Photographing some of the largest and most historic ranches in the United States, including the King Ranch and the Four Sixes Ranch, the artist often works on horseback to authentically capture daily ranch life. He collaborates closely with his subjects, earning their trust to create images that feel intimate, honest, and timeless. Each Beau Simmons print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a fragment of the original film negative, ensuring its uniqueness and collectability.

Beau's dedication to authenticity extends beyond the Western lifestyle, as seen in his acclaimed coffee table book, The Twenty-Year War, a collaborative project with U.S. combat veterans that chronicles their experiences with sensitivity and depth. Simmons' The Twenty-Year War was accompanied by a traveling museum exhibition. Beau has also collaborated with Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone, to document the iconic Four Sixes Ranch while raising awareness for cancer support organizations like The American Cancer Society and the Careity Foundation.

In just a few years as a fine art photographer, Beau Simmons has exhibited at prestigious venues including Art Miami and other leading art fairs, establishing himself as a recognized voice in contemporary photography. Based in North Carolina, Simmons continues to travel the United States, capturing the beauty of Americana, the Western lifestyle, and the landscapes that inspire it, offering a timeless window into the heart of the West.
