Who is Caroline D’Souza

Caroline D’Souza is a Brazilian contemporary artist whose work transforms timeless symbols into artistic statements. Her Chess Series reimagines the game as a reflection of power, strategy, and human connection, resulting in conceptual works.

After completing her studies in Milan as a fashion illustrator and designer, she launched her own collection at Athens Fashion Week before shifting her focus entirely to art—a passion she had carried since her teenage years. Now based in Greece, D’Souza has established herself as a contemporary artist whose sculptures and paintings are collected worldwide.

Her artistic journey has been shaped by mentorship from respected Greek artists and further studies with Central Saint Martins in the UK.

Known for combining diverse materials such as acrylics, oils, resin, metals, and crystals, D’Souza creates works that are layered, dynamic, and emotionally charged. Each collection reflects her drive to push beyond tradition, transforming personal experiences into universal symbols.

D’Souza’s works have been exhibited internationally, with notable milestones including her 2019 solo exhibition at Kapopoulos Fine Arts in Mykonos, her bronze public sculpture Love Has No Color commissioned by the Brazilian Embassy in Athens, and her acclaimed “Unbeaten” series of gold-plated metal hearts, now represented in galleries across multiple countries.

Her latest body of work, the Chess Series, continues this exploration of form, symbolism, and human connection. Inspired by the strategy, power, and balance found within the game, these works go beyond the board—turning chess pieces into reflections of life’s choices, relationships, and struggles.

Caroline’s work has been acquired by collectors across Europe, the United States, and South America. In 2019, she debuted with a solo exhibition in Mykonos, and in 2020 her monumental bronze Love Has No Color was unveiled in Athens as part of a permanent public collection commissioned by the Brazilian Embassy. Since then, her sculptures and paintings have entered private collections in more than nine countries.
