Belgian-artist Isabelle Scheltjens uses glass to create beautiful glass mosaics of female subjects. Creating her own style of portraiture, Isabelle layers colored glass shards through a delicate process involving color theory and glass-fusion.
After studying at the Antwerp City Institute for Decorative Arts and Crafts, Isabelle Scheltjens was inspired by glass-design to invent her own technique of glass-melting art which involves melting together variously colored, sized, and textured glass pieces at around 800°C.

Isabelle Scheltjens's portraits are inspired by pointillism, a style of painting where dots of paint form images at a distance. Mastering color theory, Scheltjens meticulously plans and layers together her different colored glass shards.
