Artist Hijack
Hijack is a contemporary art prodigy who is transforming street-art through a unique blend of historical art references, graffiti influences, and a repeated anonymous silhouette.
Who is hijack?
Hijack is a Los Angeles–based contemporary artist whose practice has evolved from street art into a highly refined body of realist and surreal works. Known for his ability to blur the boundaries between urban culture and art history, Hijack creates oil paintings, woodcuts, and large-scale hand-painted sculptures that challenge the physical limits of the frame while maintaining a sense of play and immediacy.
Born in 1992 in California and raised in an immersive artistic environment, Hijack developed his skills across a wide range of mediums including spray paint, stenciling, acrylics, graphic design, and woodworking before transitioning into oil painting. While his early exposure to street art shaped his visual instincts, his mature practice reflects a deliberate shift toward technical precision, material experimentation, and narrative depth. His works often juxtapose classical references with contemporary iconography, balancing realism with surreal tension.
Hijack first gained international attention in 2013 with his sold-out gallery debut at Mead Carney Fine Art in London. The exhibition was extended due to demand and received coverage from The Art Newspaper, The Telegraph, Huffington Post, and Art of England. During this period, his street intervention “Never Too Young to Dream Big” further cemented his presence in the public eye.
Since then, Hijack has presented solo exhibitions and major projects across Europe, Asia, and the United States. A pivotal moment came with his 2019 solo exhibition Ecolibrium in Malibu, a climate-focused body of work that signaled a deeper conceptual turn and was covered by Artnet. His sold-out solo presentations at Art Miami—most notably in 2022—demonstrated the full scope of his practice, combining realistic oil paintings, architectural booth design, and life-sized woodcut figures that bridged his street origins with a classical sensibility.
Working from his Los Angeles studio, Hijack continues to expand his visual language through ambitious exhibitions and new sculptural and painterly forms. Constantly refining his craft, his work resonates with collectors for its technical rigor, cultural awareness, and unmistakable energy.
